A lighting retrofit is the
practice of replacing components in the system with counterparts that
make it use energy more efficiently. A lighting upgrade is any strategy
that reduces the system's energy use. Energy savings are realized over
time that can be significant enough to not only pay for the new
equipment, but produce a return on the investment.
Conducting a lighting
audit is a very good way for owners and managers to analyze an existing
lighting system with the intent of making changes to reduce long-term
operating costs and/or improve lighting efficiency, worker productivity
and satisfaction.

-
Step
one is to identify opportunities. Our trained staff will evaluate your
existing lighting systems for quality of light and current power
consumption, including recommended IES light levels for tasks
performed, and provide details on your existing fixtures types and
energy use patterns.
-
LCRS
can provide recommendations on upgrading your existing systems to
newer more energy-efficient light sources to maximize your power
savings. The answer may be as simple as replacing existing lamps with
more efficient lamp types or can involve ballast replacement or new
fixture installations. Documentation will be provided showing a
comparison between the existing system and the new system. This
report will include light levels, power consumption, cooling load
reductions, maintenance reductions, and a financial analysis with
anticipated payback period.
-
Establish a program for improved lighting maintenance practices
reducing lumen depreciation, lamp burn out, re-lamping labor, and
maintenance costs.
